How Does Link Exchange Work?

A link exchange between two website works as follows:
- Given that two websites are willing to exchange links.
- Website A places a link to website B from any page within their website.
- Website B returns the favor by placing a link to website A from their website.
This is considered a two-way or reciprocal link exchange. This link exchange will only works for both parties if, and ONLY if, the search engines recognize both websites. In the case of Google, PageRank is the measure of that recognition. This is why it is very important that the link page have a PageRank. Google PageRank is benchmarked to measure link exchange effectiveness for which other search engines will follow. If your link page has a PageRank then it is very likely that other search engines will recognize and index it.
